The harsh reality of being HIV positive is mostly made worse by the fact that there is no known cure to the virus although there are helpful antiretrovirus medicines. One of the main focus points of HIV is public opinion and reaction , to my knowledge most of the general public are under the impression that a HIV positive person could 'give you a disease' by using your toilet , sharing a cup , even taking a drag through one of your cigarettes. In no means is this true , prejudice against HIV is seemingly ridicolous and a lot of the stuff I have heard about it is totally pathetic. There have been people known to have suffered violent and verbal abuse , attacks on there home and other unnecessary treatment due to the fact they are HIV positive. Thus far I have come across no-one who has a problem with me because of this , I have recieved nothing but support but maybe one day I will be a victim of the people who dont have a clue about the reality. But what sufferers need to know is they are totally innocent and have done nothing to deserve this and there is life beyond infection , many people are now living healthy lifes with there treatments.
